I’ll Have Another Podcast Episode 21: Emily Infeld
Emily Infeld is an American middle and long distance runner. She will be representing the USA in RIO at the Olympics in the 10,000 m this August! I had a couple of people request to have her on the show, so I reached out and she responded right away and agreed to chat with me. I was super pumped as I literally sent her a measly little message on instagram and wondered if she’d even see the message.
In this episode, Emily and I talk about her life growing up, when she fell in love with running and her experiences running for Georgetown and professionally. We also talk about overcoming injury as a professional athlete and how she has handled that both mentally and physically. Emily was super fun and chatty – I felt like I was talking to one of my girlfriends I’ve known forever. You know we get into the Bachelorette, snap chat and all the fun stuff she’s diggin’ these days.
More about Emily’s Running Career:
She had a successful collegiate career at Georgetown University where she was a double indoor Big East Conference champion in the 3,000 m and the mile, the 3,000 m winner at the NCAA Indoor Championships and the runner-up in the 1500 m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Post college Emily went on to run professionally for Nike with the Bowerman Track Club. She represented the USA at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and placed third in the 10.000 m at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2015. Emily finished third in the 10,000 m at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, gaining selvetion for the national team alongside Molly Huddle and Shalane Flanagan.
