Scott Jurek is a Husband, Father, Author and one of the names we will never forget in the world of Ultra running. Most known for his 7- consecutive straight victories at The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run, he has also taken victories in the 153-mile Spartathlon, the Hardrock 100 and the Badwater 135-Mile Ultramarathon.
In their newest venture – in 2015, Scott and his wife Jenny recount their adventure on the Appalachian Trail in their new book “North” – Scott put in the miles and Jenny put her heart into crewing him and supporting him on this big adventure. He took the Appalachian Trail speed record that year, averaging nearly 50 miles a day over 46 days. He also once held the United States all-surface record in the 24-Hour Run with 165.7 miles: 6.5 marathons in one day – which in this episode he mentions he might have interest in chasing that down again.
Scott is well known for his vegan diet and is an encourager to runners of all abilities to live a healthy lifestyle. He is also a New York Times-bestselling author for his memoir, Eat & Run, and his journey running the the Tarahumar in the Copper Caynon is recounted in the popular book, Born To Run.
