Nikki Hiltz likes to race and she likes to win. She’s a 1500 meter runner for Adidas and runs with the Missions Athletic Club in San Diego, California. She’s just been running Pro for one year and has had huge successes so far in 2019- all starting when she raced the B.A.A. road mile and took the win in April. Last night she competed in the Prelims for the USA National Championships and she’ll be toeing the line this Saturday, July 27th to compete for a spot on the Worlds team in Doha this September.
She holds a 1500 PR of 4:05 and has her sites set on making the Olympic team in 2020. She’s racing a lot right now to gain experience and put herself in every possible race scenario so that she is sharp an ready on any big day. She’s got a laid back nature to her that you will feel in this episode that’s just so refreshing.
Nikki is an advocate and supporter of the LGTBQ community which she is a part of and has become a role model for younger athletes and anyone really to stand up and be themselves. In this episode she talks about how she doesn’t mind being called the gay runner because she is proud of both of those things. A lot of wisdom from this woman today in both running and living to your truest self.
I was so honored Nikki was willing to chat with me week of her big race and now I’m extra excited for the finals tomorrow!
