Episode 116: Ben True

Ben True is joining my line up of male guests on the show and I couldn’t be happier about it. Many of you probably heard his name all around the running world when he WON the New York City Half in March running is debut half marathon in a time of 62:39. This made him the first American Male winner of this race’s thirteen year history.

Ben competed at Dartmouth as a runner and skier in college and went on to run very briefly for the Oregon Track Club post college. He now runs for Saucony and trains on his own in New Hampshire and is currently coached by Ray Treacy. He holds a 5K PR of 13:02 and is chasing down the goal to make an Olympic Team. (He was a favorite in 2016 to make the team and it unfortunately did not work out for him that year) One of the highlights of his career was the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships where he finished 6th overall, leading Team USA to a second-place finish behind Ethiopia.

In this episode we talk about his career in the sport and how he got to where he is now and also the kind of mentality he brings to racing and training. Ben is married to Professional Triathlete Sarah True (who was crushing a half ironman while we conducted the conversation) and they recently started a coffee business with Des and Ryan Linden. (Linden and True Coffee)

Enjoy my conversation with Ben!
