This episode with Samantha Smith is one of a kind. She walks us through the difficult time in her life (still difficult) of losing her husband, Andrew Smith 18 months ago. You can read about their journey on their blog here. Samantha has been through so much in her 26 years and is one of the most strong and courageous people I’ve ever met. Samantha is a crossfitter, a runner and she’s a speaker. In the past month alone, she completed her first half marathon (where we met, of course), competed in her first crossfit competition and gave a TedX talk! Impressive to say the least. She has a heart to help others and has a powerful way with words. She is the momma of two dogs and a loyal Butler Bulldog fan.
In this conversation, we do go deep with the raw feelings and emotions of losing her spouse at such a young age. We also talk about how all of us can play a part in helping those facing the situation her and Andrew faced, by registering to be on the Bone Marrow Donor Registry. We talk about her and Andrew’s faith throughout their journey, and though there are some tears, we also laugh about some light hearted stuff and talk about our favorite books and music. Samantha is not ashamed that she is a fan of the bachelorette and we have also committed to taking an improv class together.
