I had a good response from my three things I’m loving post last Friday, so I thought I’d bring it back!
1. New Lucy Apparel at Athletic Annex.
It’s so much better when you try it on. I will have those pants in my closet. For the record- I tried these on to use for Athletic Annex social media. I don’t actually think I’m a model. I was so pleasantly surprised with how well the fit was on everything and the price point is better than similar brands.
2. Mac Lipstick.
I’ve always been terrible at lipstick. Afraid it’s on my teeth or all over my face the second I put it on. If you don’t see me smiling and my lips look red, it’s probably because I’m terrified there is lipstick on all my teeth.
My friend Britney, who does my hair (and Marshall’s super hip hair), is a make up pro, so I finally just texted her and asked her to get me some lipstick and whatever I need to make it work and just let me know how much I owe. The thought of going to a make up counter or store and dealing with this- let alone finding a time to go without the boys was not sounding fun to me. And she LOVES this stuff.
So she went to mac and got me some primer, two lipsticks and a lip pencil. Love them so far. I don’t wear make up often and fully intend on these lasting for a LONG TIME. I remember being 20 and thinking how outrageously expensive mac make up was- now I feel like it’s on the low-normal end of high end make up. Guess that’s the difference between 20 and 30.
These are the colors she went with for me:
- Prep & Prime Lip Base
- Who knew you should use a base that’s not just chapstick? Pro tip- she says put this on right away and let it set for awhile before putting the lipstick on
- Satin Lipstick – Faux
- For Everyday Wear (Not that I’ll wear it everyday)
- Retro Matte Lipstick – All Fired Up
- For going out
- Lip Pencil – Follow your heart
- This is to be applied AFTER the All Fired Up is applied
3. Hopslam Ale
I don’t know have much to say about it but I’m into it and it’s 10% alcohol. You should know by now how I feel about beer with a high alcohol content. Strong enough that I only need one to feel a little buzzy? Yes please.
And I already talked about how I’m reading the new Mindy Kaling book last week- but this chapter about weddings is cracking me up. “Asking your friend to be a bridesmaid is one of the modern paradoxes: no one actually wants to do it, but everyone would be offended if you didn’t ask.” Haha yes- and the older you get, the less you’d actually want to do it. Though, when my best friend Sarah Miller gets married, I have the absolute best Maid of Honor speech in the history of time planned.
How me accountable with the books though- I’m still getting through the three books (Half the Sky, American Sniper & Why not Me) I’ve been reading and it’s February- I need to be onto a new one by now!!
Ok running wise- I ended up doing 3 X 1 Mile repeats on Tuesday evening and it went pretty well. I had my mind set on 6:50ish pace for the miles and was able to start with that for the first one. (I didn’t budge from 6:49 on the treadmill for that first one) and cut it down to average of 6:40-6:45 for the last two. Looking back on what I did years ago when I trained for Shamrock marathon, my training started with repeats around those times, so there is hope that those repeats will be more like 6:20 sometime in the next month or two and there will be 4 and eventually 5 of them.
What three things are you LOVING?! Happy Friday!
