I had an amazing opportunity to go over to the Now Foods headquarters and check out their facility with Fitfluential. I’ve actually never gone to any kind of blogging conference or anything like that and it was a little foreign to me.

The company throughly impressed me with their dedication to a quality product – their facility  had scientists running around everywhere making sure everything was just how it should be. They pride themselves in non-GMO and natural products and my favorite part is they are still a private, family owned company.

My mom has been purchasing vitamins and supplements from Now for a long time and got me started awhile back with a few vitamins from them, so I was happy that I was already familiar with their product before the event… but after learning about what they do and how the operate, I am even more confident in the product. All of the employees were genuinely excited about what they do and I just think there’s something to be said for employees who are actually excited to go to work everyday and create and be a part of something they believe in.

Now carries, food, sports nutrition, supplements, health and beauty products, essential oils and pet products.

Now was so generous to send us all home with a huge bag of goodies AND they are gifting one lucky winner with the same bag. Trust me you want to win!

So far my favorite goodie in the back is the Plant Protein powder- which I used after our 10 mile run last weekend.

I make a smoothie with the protein complex- with chocolate milk (though regular, soy, almond, whatever you like would do the trick), a banana, frozen raspberries (strawberries or blueberries would work) a little peanut butter and ice. This ain’t no low calorie snack. This is more like a mini meal and it is so refreshing and yummy after a “long” run. 22 weeks pregnant, 10 miles is every bit of a long run.

Below you’ll see all the amazing goodness someone is going to win! Creeper husband not included. Oh and I just remembered I forgot to add a couple of items including coconut and pumpkin oil to this picture!

Every time I’m through the first trimester I start dreaming of running fast again. I’m usually so tired and blobby feeling the first 14 weeks, and when I start feeling better, I start thinking about getting back in shape. It’s so far away and so close all at the same time. And for anyone wondering- I start running much slower with no hard effort as soon as I find out I’m pregnant. I see no point in trying to run fast when my body is going through all that. If I run a race for fun, I might run a little harder at the end just for kicks, but nothing crazy!

postrun

I just read Molly’s post about her different marathons and I am specifically intrigued by her most recent marathon that she ran on a whim. She was fit from Boston training, after not having the race she was trained for, she decided to run another and ran strong. Not a PR, but strong and not so calculated. For me, as someone who runs for their hobby, not their job, I like the idea of that. I like just picking up and running when  you want to run and not being quite so obsessed with timing and numbers.

When the pressure is off, you sometimes run your best races. In 2010 I PRed in the marathon and it was after I decided a few days before the race that I would just see how I felt and not necessarily run really fast. I had just taken a new job and was a little overwhelmed so decided to take the pressure off. I ended up running fast for where I was at that time and had a great race.

I haven’t truly raced a marathon in three years– which sounds like a really long time, but really a lot has happened in those three years. (I have ran other distances since then but not a marathon!)

Last Marathon I raced – Shamrock Marathon – Early 2013

(I did run Boston in 2014 but not as a race, just for fun!)

A big surgery – Late 2013

A little surgery – Early 2015

tornpf

Crazy to think by the time I go at it again it will likely be a solid 4-5 years. Would have been only 2.5 had I not torn my plantar fascia last summer. An opportunity lost because I have stupid feet. I could be sitting on a new, pretty, hard earned marathon PR right now.

BUT. I am a big fan of not making a huge deal out of set backs (not that that baby in 2015 is something I consider a setback!!) because usually there’s nothing you can do about it and there are much more important things in the world to worry about than my running. Truly. And I mean that 100%. Perspective is important. Like anything someone is super involved with and into- it can become an idol of sorts and a selfish obsession and I really never want running to be that to me. Sure I want to run fast and give myself challenges, but I hope that I remember through it all that it’s not all about me and to never lose sight of that.

Anyway, I just walked away from this post to my 1.5 year old with a fistful of dog poop in his hands, so I’m gonna leave it at that.

Second trimester dreaming. I might be delusional that I’ll have any desire to train for a marathon anytime soon after this baby is born; we’ll see.

PS: Have you rated and reviewed my podcast yet? Would you? THANKS!

“I’ll Have Another” Podcast with Lindsey Hein is a place for conversations that leave you feeling inspired and refreshed.

During each episode, I talk with different friends, athletes, entrepreneurs, non-profit and business leaders. These are people I find motivating and inspiring. I believe you will too.

We talk about current events in our lives as well as the good, the bad and the ugly of how we got to where we are right now. I’m all about living with purpose and passion while not taking things too seriously. As a 13x marathoner and running coach, I like to talk about running a little bit too. You’ll figure that out.

The podcast is light and funny with a side of serious. We’ll discuss the hard things in life — but also jump into super important topics like who wins The Bachelor or what Justin Beiber is up to.

If someone were to ask you “What would you like another of?” right now, what would it be? For me, it’s usually another mile to run, another glass of wine, another episode of the Mindy Project or another hour of alone time away from my kids. “I’ll Have Another” is about embracing life and enjoying every step; even if the steps aren’t always easy.

Let’s dig in.

The show will be available on itunes when it’s up! You’ll be able to find it at LindseyHein.com/itunes.

Hi guys! I’ve been quiet as a mouse on this little blog- spending most of my free time getting ready to launch the podcast. I’ve recorded 7 episodes now and and so very close to launching. I’m going to do a big name reveal and giveaway on instagram this week, so make sure you’re following along!

I swear I’ve been working on it:

Today right before my interview with Another Mother Runner’s Sarah Bowen Shea, wearing a dirty sweatshirt:

In a Bar (Big Lug) working on editing:

podcastpink

In the car working on editing and intros between a too long volunteer shift and Athletic Annex Event:

podcast33333

We are heading to Florida three weeks from yesterday and if that damn podcast isn’t launched before we leave, I’m not going. I’m kidding about that really, but it WILL BE LAUNCHED by then!

I had mentioned a couple months when I started swimming a lot, (two times a week is a lot to me!) that I was going to try out the Finis Duo Underwater MP3 Player. Since I don’t really do “workouts” in the pool, I just swim nice and steady, I really wanted to try out some music to help pass the time. I was a little conflicted about it though, because alone pool time, is probably about as quiet as my mind gets in 24 hours… when I’m not sleeping that is!

I finally tried it out and honestly loved it. I do think there will be days when I want silence, but on days when I’m trying to hit 2,000 yards or more and the task seems long and daunting it is a great passer of time/laps. You download music or podcasts from your itunes and hook the duo up to your googles- the speakers set nicely against the high end of your cheek bone. It seems weird, but it works. At first I was like there’s no way I’m going to be able to hear this.

It’s funny, I feel like the “real” swimmers look at me all shaking their heads when I put the duo on my goggles. Maybe like the “real” runners do to runners out running with headphones haha.

Since I don’t have a go pro- (though I really want one!) or a random person with a camera that follows me around….  and I would feel really weird asking some random person to take a picture of my head with the duo at the pool- I’m just using a generic internet picture so you can see how it looks and hooks onto your goggles.

duopic

Oh and I had an awesome single stroller run with Big Lou last week– man I miss running with the single stroller- it’s so easy compared to the double- it basically felt like I was running solo!

singlestroller

Man this boy looks so big. Big Lou is a toddler baby these days: (A non-walking toddler baby that is!)

Big Lou2

Alright that’s all I got- GO IU!!

Hi! Sunday night, Sunday night. You all have a tall glass of wine by now right? It is 7pm. I’m sitting here thinking about how I should work on some podcast editing, but really all I want to do is watch Better Call Saul. I basically have two weeks to get my episodes edited and ready to roll out! And that means I also have to make sure I know how exactly to roll out. I’m overcomplicating it for sure. I think what I want is a vacation, but a vacation where I work with no kid interruptions. And also I need someone who is really good at the tech side of podcasting to attend this vacation and attend to my every question or concern.

Speaking of those kids though…..

ANYWAY- I haven’t done a favorites post in awhile, but today I have some goodies that I’ve been loving.

1. Dad is Fat – Jim Gaffigan

You know I love all of the books written by comedians. By far my most favorite kind of book. I’m finding this particularly interesting because he talks a lot about his kids and how obnoxious that season of life is.

He opens the books with a story about a friend who had a baby before he himself had any kids and how insane everything this friend and his wife did on a trip they took together with said bab. Everything revolved around the baby napping. It’s funny looking back, because that’s what you do when you have your first kid. Don’t get me wrong, nap time is still my sacred time and I’ll do just about anything to secure a nap but there are a lot of days when the second kid around here has to just role with the punches and that means no nap multiple days a week.

dadisfat

2. Saucony Swift Long Sleeve Shirt

I got this shirt last summer and it is my go-to every time it’s clean, I wear it shirt. I tweeted about it the other day, but it’s on major sale. And I figured I should keep you in the know- it still is! Originally $58, it’s on sale for $35. It comfortable, it’s cute and you can wear it with jeans or tights. I wear it with tights because, well I don’t really wear jeans. Why on earth would you chose to wear jeans when you can just wear tights. It’s beyond me.

saucony

3. Slim Clip

When I run outside, I almost always run with my phone- usually for music, a podcast and ok maybe a picture. I’m not above adding that in. I’m ok if you make fun of me for it too. You’re all liars if you say that’s not a reason. Ok, some of you don’t care, but I bet at least 50% do sometimes!

I’ve struggled to find something that doesn’t flop around or isn’t too big for my arm. I know they sell the arm bands for your iphone- but they are huge! I don’t have tiny arms, but any that I have tried are still too big for what I consider a somewhat normal sized arm.

You slip your phone into the SlimClip just like it’s your case for your phone and you slip it right on the side of your pants where the waist band is.

I wasn’t sure how I would like this or if it would bounce around, but it stayed right in place. It’s especially perfect for an easy long run. I don’t like to wear belts and I don’t like to hold my phone, but I want it with me. For awhile there I was just tucking my phone into the side of my pants, but that only works if they are tight enough. So basically only in the winter when I’m running in tights. My running shorts aren’t tight enough around the waste for it that.

Glenn is also digging it. He wore it the past two weekends for a 16 miler and an 18miler and liked it for both. His only complaint was he had a little bit of chaffing the first time he used it. Body Glide does the trick though. I didn’t have the chaffing issue when I wore it because I had it tucked into my rights and I had a tank top tucked in that it was over so no direct skin contact.

If you’re interested in purchasing- use THIS LINK and coupon code lindseyhein for a 15% discount.

Happy Sunday Night- I hope everyone is feeling good and ready to conquer the week ahead. I myself am feeling a tiny bit overwhelmed and tired, but really that’s ok. It won’t feel like this all week I’m sure!

I’m here to tell you WHY I LOVE the 500 Festival Mini Marathon.

I ran this race for the first time in 2005. It was my very first half marathon. My mom, dad and one of my sisters did it too. My sisters and I actually just recorded my third podcast episode and we discuss the experience.  (More on the podcast in an upcoming post) I ran the first 6 miles with my mom and then finished on my own. I wasn’t trained- had ran around 6 miles for the longest run leading up. It was so hard. In the 10 years since that first time, I’ve done it 8 of the 10  years. And it’s fun every time.

Once you’ve ran a few half marathons, it’s easy to jump on the bandwagon of “Oh the mini is too crowded”. People who have done it a few times, sometimes think, I’ve been there done that, I don’t like it, there are too many people…. It’s only for first timers. I’m here to say that I am no first timer and I LOVE the mini. Here’s why:

  • It’s an amazing event for our city. HELLO- it brings thousands of people into Indy and is great for the local economy. Duh.
  • It’s fun. Stop taking yourself so seriously. You aren’t trying out for the Olympic team and it’s not a big deal if you have to weave around in the first few miles. If you really want to avoid that- run a race beforehand to get yourself a starting spot in a closer to the front corral. Last year I ran a 1:38 starting in something like corral F (which is sort of far back for that time) and it really wasn’t all that bad. I mean there was plenty of weaving, a bathroom break, and it was fine.
  • How fun is it to see our city filled with people full of energy and happiness (or despair if you check in on them at mile 10) all morning. You’ve got first timers, people who do it every year, people running for fun, people running with a family member or friend who are doing the race for the first time ever, people trying to PR, people running for a charity close to their heart. There are SO many reasons they are out there testing their limits or just having fun and it’s a good thing. Who cares if you have to bump elbows with some of them for the first few miles?
  • It’s the 40th running of the 500 festival mini AND the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. That is cool.
  • You get to run through Haughville. You might say it’s a dumpy part of town, but I say, open your eyes when you run through and think about how maybe you could be a part of making it better.
  • Speedway is totally the new “in” part of town with Big Woods, Dare Devil — I noticed how cute it was and how much it had changed already last year when we ran through. My friend who runs the speedway running club told me I won’t even recognize it this year.
  • The finishing shoot is amazing- they play old clips from the 500 which is so cool. The stretch on New York is long, but it’s a fun and fast last mile with plenty of people cheering you along the way.

This is the breakdown of my 500 Festival Mini Marathon Experiences:

  • 2005 – First Half Marathon Ever- along with my mom, dad and one of my sisters. Nobody was prepared. We all wanted to die. I ran a 1:59:52. My goal halfway through the race became to break 2:00. The longest run leading up to it was 6 miles. I was REALLY proud of that sub 2 hours. I so wish I could find a picture. Sad face.
  • 2006 – Started dating Glenn this year and convinced him to run it with me. I think he beat me though. No he did. I just checked. He ran a 1:46:24 and I ran a 1:47:15. At least he didn’t walk. When he ran his first 5K with me the year before, he had to take a walk break halfway through. The best part about the picture below- well there are a lot of best parts, but Glenn is rocking a cotton pizza express shirt that said “I get it every night” and you better believe that cotton shirt had blood streamed down the front of the shirt at the end from his bloody nipples. We didn’t know about body glide back then. I can’t even talk about the leg chaffing I experienced. Because my legs don’t not touch. (There’s an inside joke there; after the race, as I was basically crying from the leg chaffing pain, I looked over at my mom who had ran too and asked her if she had the same issue, to which she responded with “My legs don’t touch”) So that will forever be etched in my mind. My legs touch, but my moms legs don’t touch. Whatever man. Pro leg touching over here. (No bashing my mom, she’s great, these are just the things I just like to call her out on)

glenn

  • 2007 – We ran again, Glenn ran 1:52:14 and I have no clue what I ran, because I must have used someone else’s bib. There is no record of Lindsey Andersen running, but I did run it that year.
2007mini

2007 Mini Marathon

  • 2008 – This was the year, we got married, bought a house and ran our first marathon. We did this as a training run for the marathon. I ran a 1:37:30 and Glenn ran 1:37:45. This is actually a funny story, because we started the race together and broke apart around mile 6 and never saw each other again until the finishing shoot… where I was in front. Sorry bout’ ya Glenn. Your soon to be wife won. But really because of this race, I realized it was a possibility that I could try for a BQ on that first marathon. It planted the seed of confidence I needed. (keep in mind BQ standards were 5 minutes slower back in the day) Oh my gosh. We were babies.

babies

  • 2009 – This is the year I trained senior citizens at the John H. Boner Community Center to walk the 13.1. It was a long process, but it was pretty cool. I spent a lot of hours walking with this group and riding my bike next to them in the months leading up to the race. We must have been newly weds, because I somehow convinced Glenn to walk the whole race with us. It took us over 4 hours. And like Mildred always said “who said we couldn’t do it.” Mildred was one of the seniors I worked with who is no longer with us- she actually wasn’t one of the seniors who was able to do the race, but that was one of her favorite phrases and I carry it on. And let me tell you- this was an experience these women will never forget. What an accomplishment.

SEniorGRoup

  • 2010: The year we thought we were too cool. I actually think I had Glenn working all day cleaning up one of the seniors houses. There are stories for another day of all the things I had Glenn doing when I worked at the JHBCC. He’s moved furniture, put together desks, rode around on holiday lights tour of the city, made chili, took the day off work to help me with a picnic for 350 senior citizens. I was really good at bringing him into my work. For some reason, he’s never brought me into his… he must not trust my spreadsheet skills.
  • 2011: The year I coached a bunch of Tech HS kids and ran with them: This was part of The Super Bowl Legacy project that I was proud to be a part of. When the Super Bowl came to Indianapolis, the community center that I worked at was heavily involved in all of the efforts to revitalize the city- specifically the near eastside. This was one of several amazing projects that came about due to the Super Bowl Legacy project. Also, my little sister SHELBY (who was rocking the pink hair way before it was cool, ran her first and only half marathon that year and wrote about it.
  • teamlegacy

2013mni

  • 2014: The Year Glenn ran & Marshall and I cheered. I had just ran Boston, was newly pregnant, but didn’t know it yet and was dealing with some series plantar fasciitis. Glenn ran a 1:24 and then I sent him home with Marshall so I could hobble/run home with my plantar fasciitis foot.

GLENN MINI

  • 2015: My first half post Louis. It was fun for the first half of the race and I worked hard for the second half. The second half ended up being a great confidence building run for what was to come over the summer and into the fall. (before I epically tore my plantar fascia) DAMN FEET.

INDYMINI

I haven’t full out raced the mini since 2008 right before our first marathon, but I’ll plan to do that sometime in the next couple of years. I do plan to run for sure this year, but not sure if it will be used as a race, training run or for fun run.

All this to say. I’ve only missed two years since the first time I ran this race. And now looking back, I’m sad I broke a good streak. You should get on the train too man. It’s fun. And you ain’t too cool to run it. Also- if you’ve never run a half marathon- this is a great place to start!

Have you ever run the 500 Festival Mini Marathon?

Are you running it this year?

What’s your favorite part of the race?

Why do you Mini?

I’m hear to tell you not being scared to run “slow” on your easy and recovery days is the way to go.

I want to highlight a specific athlete: Ashley Barnish. I’ve been coaching her on and off for three years. THREE YEARS? Wow. She was one of the first people we ever coached and is still with us today. I always brag on her and she is truly a dream to coach. The girls follows the plan and listens to her body.

Ashley came to us with a marathon PR of 4:05 and a 1:48 half marathon PR. The goal was to qualify for Boston.

Two seasons later, she was qualified by 7 minutes and crushed her goal. She ran a 3:28. Blew the expectations out of the water. Because she was prepared and trusted the process. And then got tough on race day, right? You have to be willing to hurt on race day. You let yourself go there on workouts so why wouldn’t you go there on race day. Don’t be afraid to go there. Gotta get out of your own head.

But what I want to talk about is this: the average pace for Ashley’s marathon that day was 7:56. Got that? 7:56.

The majority of her training miles were ran somewhere between 8:45-9:45 pace. And the girl was not scared (and still will!) about running 9:45 or 10:00 minute miles if she’s feeling that’s what feels “easy” or “recovery”.

Did she do big workouts? Yes. But they were once a week. She also ran a good amount of progression long runs with marathon pace work in them. Looking back at her training schedule, I’m seeing 8 long run workouts with marathon pace work in them over a 22 week training cycle. The rest were all “easy” long runs.

Often times, people freak out when they see how slow the easy pace scheduled. But listen, these easy runs should feel EASY. Like, no heavy breathing, sing happy birthday fluidly easy.

Ashley B

“A year of mental training, 4 months of hard work, more 5am alarms then I choose to count, and the stars aligning resulted in a 18 min PR, a sub-3:30, and a BQ! Boston bound 2016, hopefully!” – Ashley

Ashley is running Boston in April and working hard. She’s got a big two weeks going on right now that will pay off on race day. Let’s all cheer her on- go Ashley!

So go run some easy miles and enjoy them for what they are. Don’t be scared that you won’t be able to run a minute faster per mile on race day. You can. If you taper right, and you’ve been the right workouts in, you can. Enjoy the easy days. No heavy breathing on easy days!

What do you run your easy paced miles at compared to your goal marathon pace time? Or Half Marathon?

I sat down this morning to sketch out some of my plan for Grandma’s Marathon. In doing the planning, I usually start with long runs and count back to where I need to be when. I felt a sigh of relief realizing that Grandma’s is 19 weeks away. Hot damn, that’s a lot of weeks to get fit. I’ve hit 13 miles for my longest run since the epic foot injury in August. As I as looking at these next few weeks, I realized I don’t need to build up from that 13 for a at least a few more weeks, which took some pressure off of feeling like I need to run real long for the next 19 Fridays or Saturdays or whatever ends up working.

So I’m going to sit here around 10-13 miles for my long runs depending how I feel and bump of to 15 in three or four weeks. No reason to get burnt out… for no well, no reason.

I hit 28 running miles last week, which is close to what I did the week before. I should hit 30ish this week. I had a pretty great long run where I did a 5 mile pick up toward the end, that I felt pretty strong doing. The pick up was gradual and it wasn’t too fast, but I felt stronger than I had been throughout the whole run in general. I also started serial, season 2 podcast- I like it but I thinks we can all agree…. it’s just not season 1!

We headed out to the Groundhog 7 on Sunday as a family, plus my sister (who is 11 weeks post baby and ran 7 miles like no big deal) it’s a free race that Indy Runner’s puts on, you just bring a canned good to be donated. Lot’s of people at this race- I’d say 600. I figured we’d just run 9 minute miles, but after 2 miles of that, we got ansy and just wanted to get on with it so we slowly sped up. It was really nice out temperature wise but also really windy, which Glenn was pushing the double- so multiple the wind for him. We ended up finishing sort of fast (7 min/miles) and my legs were feeling tired after Friday’s longer run. This getting in shape thing takes work. 🙂

FAMILY

Here is what the week is supposed to look like this week, based on my sketch out this morning:

Monday: Bike Trainer at home 45 Min + 30 Min Yoga at home (I use the Yoga Studio App)

Tuesday: 7 Mi (or 60 min) easy run

Wednesday: 45 Min run with 30 at tempo (I’m guessing tempo will be somewhere around 7:05 pace right now- and I will very much ease into that)

Thursday: Swim 1500 + 45 Min Bike Trainer at home

Friday: 10-12 Mi Run Easy

Saturday: 2,000 yard swim

Sunday: Rest or something easy.

I’m into trying to knock out my longer runs on Friday’s when I can.  When Glenn and I are both trying to run long on Saturday mornings it ends up getting annoying and someone (usually me) get’s grumpy. This Saturday was so great because I knocked out my 13 Mi on Friday and leisurely went to the Y and took my sweet little time swimming lot’s of yards.

Today, I had a really cute, sweet, partner for my bike ride. In typical stay at home mom fashion, I dropped off Marshall at pre school, Lou and I headed home, I promptly turned on the Today Show, did some laundry, threw Lou in pack and play with toys, got on the bike, and read my Mindy Kaling book during commercials. Big Lou chilled the whole time and was ready for a nap when I finished up.

He be chillin’.

Two things I’m looking forward to:

  • We bought Jason Isbell tickets for next Friday at the Murat! Yay! Must find babysitter now.
  • Starting my podast. I’m not trying to be secretive about this. I bought my microphone and have started the process of getting things rolling and set up. More details coming. But it’s happening.

I was listening to Jamie Ivey’s podcast (of course) and she was interviewing Jami Nato– who said something that really stuck with me- this isn’t an exact quote, but it was along the lines of- Really not taking the chance is because of our pride. Because we’re afraid of self failure. That is so true. Anytime you put yourself out there, there are going to be critiques and of course you’ll have your doubts. But what if you don’t ever go ahead and try that thing that excites you and you genuinely think you could be good at and enjoy. Well, that would suck. So, I’m diving in.

I had a good response from my three things I’m loving post last Friday, so I thought I’d bring it back!

1. New Lucy Apparel at Athletic Annex.

It’s so much better when you try it on. I will have those pants in my closet. For the record- I tried these on to use for Athletic Annex social media. I don’t actually think I’m a model. I was so pleasantly surprised with how well the fit was on everything and the price point is better than similar brands.

2. Mac Lipstick.

I’ve always been terrible at lipstick. Afraid it’s on my teeth or all over my face the second I put it on. If you don’t see me smiling and my lips look red, it’s probably because I’m terrified there is lipstick on all my teeth.

My friend Britney, who does my hair (and Marshall’s super hip hair), is a make up pro, so I finally just texted her and asked her to get me some lipstick and whatever I need to make it work and just let me know how much I owe. The thought of going to a make up counter or store and dealing with this- let alone finding a time to go without the boys was not sounding fun to me. And she LOVES this stuff.

So she went to mac and got me some primer, two lipsticks and a lip pencil. Love them so far. I don’t wear make up often and fully intend on these lasting for a LONG TIME. I remember being 20 and thinking how outrageously expensive mac make up was- now I feel like it’s on the low-normal end of high end make up. Guess that’s the difference between 20 and 30.

These are the colors she went with for me:

mac

  • Prep & Prime Lip Base
    • Who knew you should use a base that’s not just chapstick? Pro tip- she says put this on right away and let it set for awhile before putting the lipstick on
  • Satin Lipstick – Faux
    • For Everyday Wear (Not that I’ll wear it everyday)
  • Retro Matte Lipstick – All Fired Up
    • For going out
  • Lip Pencil – Follow your heart
    • This is to be applied AFTER the All Fired Up is applied

3. Hopslam Ale

I don’t know have much to say about it but I’m into it and it’s 10% alcohol. You should know by now how I feel about beer with a high alcohol content. Strong enough that I only need one to feel a little buzzy? Yes please.

And I already talked about how I’m reading the new Mindy Kaling book last week- but this chapter about weddings is cracking me up. “Asking your friend to be a bridesmaid is one of the modern paradoxes: no one actually wants to do it, but everyone would be offended if you didn’t ask.” Haha yes- and the older you get, the less you’d actually want to do it. Though, when my best friend Sarah Miller gets married, I have the absolute best Maid of Honor speech in the history of time planned.

How me accountable with the books though- I’m still getting through the three books (Half the Sky, American Sniper & Why not Me)  I’ve been reading and it’s February- I need to be onto a new one by now!!

Ok running wise- I ended up doing 3 X 1 Mile repeats on Tuesday evening and it went pretty well. I had my mind set on 6:50ish pace for the miles and was able to start with that for the first one. (I didn’t budge from 6:49 on the treadmill for that first one) and cut it down to average of 6:40-6:45 for the last two. Looking back on what I did years ago when I trained for Shamrock marathon, my training started with repeats around those times, so there is hope that those repeats will be more like 6:20 sometime in the next month or two and there will be 4 and eventually 5 of them.

What three things are you LOVING?! Happy Friday!
