Brad is a researcher, a writer, and a coach on human performance, sustainable success, and wellbeing. He was on the podcast previously talking about his book the Passion Paradox. He has also written Peak Performance and his newest book is The Practice of Groundedness that just dropped this week! Brad’s work has appeared in The NY Times, Wired, The Wallstreet Journal, Washington Post, LA Times, NY Magazine, Forbes, Sports Illustrated and other national and international outlets. He works with executives, entrepreneurs, physicians, and athletes in his practice. He is the co-creator of The Growth Equation, an online platform dedicated to defining and attaining a more fulfilling and sustaining kind of success. One of the athletes that Brad has worked with over the years is Shalane Flanagan.

Shalane is a 4-time Olympian, an Olympic Silver Medalist, and the 2018 NYC Marathon Champion. She is also an American Record Holder. She is a two time NY Times Bestselling Author for her cookbooks. She wrote Run Fast Eat Slow and soon her and her co-author are releasing their newest book Rise and Run.

She was a professional 1500m runner and a miler for 8 years running for Brooks. In 2016, she placed 4th in the 1500m at the US Olympic Trials, leaning at the line with Brenda Martinez for that 3rd place spot. She has a lifetime mile PR of 4:25. She ran for Hillsdale College and then for the University of Michigan. She is now the assistant coach for Central Michigan University cross country and track and field.

She has a personal best of  4.95 meters which is 16 feet 2 inches. She was 5th at the Olympic Trials in 2016 so she had a huge year this year to not only make the Olympic team but to also win the gold medal! Katie was first on the show back in 2018 on episode 142. This is a huge shift in what she normally does. She usually focuses on the 1500m and she is a 3-time Olympian. She won a Bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics and she has both a Gold and Silver medal from the World Championships.

She was first on the show in June of 2019 on episode 188. In that episode she shares all about her running career and it is a great introduction to Jenny!

In this episode, we talk about social media, her experience at the Olympic Trials this summer, her decision to transition to race the 10 miler, and so much more!

Episode 329: Rebecca Mehra – 4:27 at the Sir Walter Mile https://lindseyhein.com/2021/08/13/episode-329-rebecca-mehra-427-at-the-sir-walter-mile/ Fri, 13 Aug 2021 04:00:46 +0000 https://lindseyhein.com/?p=12871 more »]]> Rebecca Mehra and I got to sit down in person and record in Raleigh, NC before the Sir Walter Mile! She had a great race there where she ran a PR of 4:27.96 which was a 3 second PR. Rebecca runs for Oiselle and is coached by Lauren Fleshman and is part of the Little Wing Athletics team.

Rebecca ran the 800m and the 1500m at the Olympic Trials this summer. She ran 5 races in 8 days and grabbed 2 11th place finishes! Rebecca has a 1500m PR of 4:06.28 and an 800m PR of 2:01.09. In 2019, she ran a road mile PR of 4:22 at the 5th Avenue Mile where she finished 3rd.

This summer after not making the Olympic team, she went on to set 3 personal bests in 9 days and won her first Diamond League. Her new 800m personal best of 1:57.2 puts her at the 8th fastest American all time  and 7th fastest in the world in 2021.
