I had the great honor to head back to NYC for another live podcast recording with the NYRR last week and I’m excited to share it with you today! Listen in here on my conversation with Jeff Dengate, Runner-in-Chief for Runner’s World, Rebecca Kennedy, Master Tread Instructor at Peloton, and Mateo Ortega, Director of Integrations & Devices at Strava. We discussed the rapidly evolving space of technology and how it is impacting our global running community.

This interview was was deeply rooted in technology and how it can positively impact us. It was really cool to be able to talk with these individuals who are on the cutting edge in this space and I look forward to further discussion on the topic!

Episode 113: Michele Gonzalez & Mary Johnson

Mary Johnson and Michele Gonzalez join me for today’s episode to talk all things Boston Marathon! They give us tips for the course and share reasons why they’ve both had successful races there. We also reminisce about our favorite Boston memories and get excited about our spectating adventures this year!

Mary is a badass coach and owns her own business Run Life Perform – she knows her stuff, check her out! Michele is went to West Point, is an Army Veteran, works full time in NYC and has two adorable little boys. Both of these ladies have sub 3:10 marathon PRs and inspire me all the time. I am so thankful I get to call them my friends!

Episode 111: Neely Spence Gracey

Neely is an American Distance Runner, running Professionally for Adidas. She’s had a thing for the 5K most of her running career, but in the past few years has taken up the marathon! She’s competed two times in at the IAAF World Championships in the 5K for team USA, placing 13th in 2013. In 2016 she debuted her first marathon coming off an injury that cost her running in the Olympic Marathon Trials. (which she also missed in 2012 due to injury/illness) So with a short training cycle, she completed the race as the top American in Boston with a time of 2:35. Just 7 months later she shaved 5 seconds off that time with a time of 2:34:55 at the NYC Marathon. She has had plenty of hiccups on the road injury wise and also has has battled Lyme Disease. Her resilience is contagious. And brief side note here – the girl was born to run, she was actually born while her Dad (an accomplished runner himself) was running the Boston Marathon.

Neely is expecting her first child (a boy!) and we had a lot of fun talking about that experience and the decision she made to start a family smack dab in the middle of her marathoning career. She’s got big dreams for post pregnancy racing. She is only 27, so has a lot of years of marathoning ahead of her! She is also a running coach (Get Running) and lives in Boulder, CO with her husband and their dog – patiently awaiting baby boy in August!
