She is one of the newest members of Hoka One One NAZ Elite and we get to learn all about her journey to joining the team in this episode.

Lauren ran for Baylor where she has held several school records and finished 7th in the 1500 at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships. After college she ran with Asics for a bit and joined a training group, but ultimately ended up training with her husband coaching her for several years before joining NAZ Elite. I LOVE the story of how she pursued joining the team- you’re gonna love it too. She currently holds a 15:10 PR in the 5,000m and a 31:53 10,000m PR. Though she was an 800-1500 meter runner for years, she now focuses on the 5,000m and 10,000m.

He debuted the marathon just two years ago at CIM in a time of 2:17, qualifying him for the Olympic Trials. He also had the super cool and fun job of pacing Sara Hall at the Marathon Project back in December and he shares about how he landed that duty in this episode.

In this episode we dig into his pacing duties pacing Sara at the Marathon Project and we also talk about his big dream goals for his own running career which is blossoming! He has only really raced two marathons and has a goal of breaking 2:14 this summer and even bigger plans beyond that.

One of my favorite parts of this conversation is when he talks about mindset and how he feels about racing. I hope it will help all of us reset how we think about it and enjoy it just a little bit more!

This was a super long conversation so I pulled out a couple of parts and those pieces will be up on Patreon for extended conversation if anyone is interested in hearing more! You can access that at Patreon.com/LindseyHein. I drop bonus episodes over there every single Wednesday.

Big thanks to listener Gieselle for suggesting JJ for the show!

She ran her first marathon in Houston 2020 in a time of 2:32, missing the Olympic Standard. She is originally from Florida and went on to run at Oklahoma State University. Making huge improvements each year during her time at Oklahoma, she took the 2019 NCAA title in the 1500m in 4:05.98, coming in to beat the reigning champion Jess Hull. (Fun fact- Jess will also be a guest on the podcast soon!)

In 2019, she gave up her last year of eligibility at Oklahoma to turn pro when she signed with Nike and that summer she competed in the USA championships in the 1500 placing 4th in a stacked field alongside Jenny Simpson, Nikki Hiltz, Kate Grace, Shelby Houlihan and more… just missing making the Worlds team by one place. It’s going to be fun to watch Sinclaire get in the mix with these women more in the coming years, especially as she begins her journey training with the Bowerman Track Club!

In this episode we talk about why she decided to go Pro with one year left of eligibility, what she’s most excited about with training with the Bowerman Track Club, having Shalane Flanagan as a new coach alongside Jerry Shumacher and so much more!
