Lindsey is a Registered Dietitian and Founder of Rise up Nutrition.  As former D1 athlete herself, Lindsey is passionate about helping athletes with their relationship with food and fueling for peak performance.

We cover a lot in this episode… we talk about the concept of intuitive eating and how we can pair that with fueling to best meet our needs as an athlete. One of my favorite topics we dive into is talking with our kids and teenagers about food, fuel and what to say and what not to say.  I LOVE the concept of encouraging food, not discouraging food. You’ll hear all about that in this episode.
Lindsey is a wealth of knowledge and if you know someone looking to fuel for optimal performance or have a teen who may need to have a conversation with an RD to talk about any challenges they may be having with their relationship with food, I highly recommend checking out all that Lindsey has to offer.
What we talked about:

3:05- Lindsey’s history with nutrition and what lead her to study dietetics

12:50- Intuitive eating paired with fueling for performance

15:55- Importance of talking with a sports dietitian as a young athlete

20:55- How to handle conversations about food with our children

27:05- Encouraging kids to eat certain foods

31:55- The evolution of Lindsey’s career and starting her own business

35:40- The types of athletes that she works with

36:35- Navigating conversations with her clients around the topic of eating disorders

41:35- What the process of working with a client looks like in her programs

50:20- Working with athletes as their bodies are changing

58:00- End of podcast questions

Allison Schaff, Founder and CEO of Prep Dish joins me on today’s show. Allison is a Dietitian and entrepreneur – the brains and creativity behind the business Prep Dish. Some of you may have heard of Prep Dish, as they have been a sponsor on the podcast. I am so intrigued by how people come up with an idea that they then turn into a business and how they actually made it happen and I’m inspired by Allison’s story- I know you will be too.

Allison shares with her some awesome books she’s read and steps she took to get her business off the ground. She has traveled and lived in so many different places around the country/world and shares with us the fun details of how her and her husband met as well. She was such a fun guest… I love it when guests just get the conversation style of this podcast. Such a delight to talk with Allison.

Here’s a little more info on Allison’s business – Prep Dish is a subscription based meal planning service that makes your life easier – Allison has two different menu options: gluten-free (dairy-free optional) and paleo meal plans. All subscribers will receive both options each week so you have the flexibility to decide which plan you want to follow.
