Two returning guests on the show today. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know some members of the NAZ Elite group and when Ben and Scott published their book “Inside a Marathon“, it made sense to bring them back on to chat. The cool thing about the running community is everyone is usually out to support one another and I want to see this book do really well for these guys who put so much heart into it. I love learning about their program.

You heard from Scott on this podcast fairly recently in episode 146 and Coach Ben in episode 140 – both episodes you get to know them on a deeper level, but today we talk about the NYC Marathon; where Scott placed 7th and second American running a 2:12:28! We also talk about training and how they wrote this unique and inspiring book and Scott and I might have a little race bet going for Boston in the spring.

Episode 131: Shadrack Biwott

Shadrack Biwott placed 3rd at the Boston Marathon this year and is a name to be watching in the coming seasons as the Olympic Trials approach! He was suggested to me by guests Tim and Kirstin Ritchie who were on Episode 123.

We’ve talked a lot about the women’s race in Boston this year, but the men’s race hasn’t been talked about nearly as much; least by me it hasn’t and I was so excited to hear about Shadrack’s experience. Though he finished 3rd in this years Boston Marathon- he wasn’t the dark horse you might think he was- as he placed 4^th in Boston in 2017 and 5^th at the New York City Marathon in 2016.

He is sponsored by Brooks Running and runs for the Hansons team. He has a marathon PR of 2:12:01 and a have marathon PR of 61:24. Shadrack is from Kenya and has lived in the States since High School- he is married to his college sweatheart Kathy, they have two kids and live in California where he trains mostly solo, while enjoying getting to know the running community in his town. He has a positive and encouraging outlook on life that I know will inspire you.

Episode 121: Becky Wade

Elite Marathoner and World Traveler Becky Wade joins me on the podcast today! In 2012 Becky traveled the World (22 countries) studying running culture in each place she went. She wrote a book called “Run the World” where she shares all about her experience; what she learned from 9 of the countries she spend the most time in and she also shares delicious recipes from the trip.

Becky ran her debut marathon at CIM soon after returning from her trip in 2013 to win the marathon in a time of 2:30. In this episode we talk about not only her future running goals of crushing the 2:30 barrier in the marathon, but also her passion for finding balance and love in things outside of running as well. She has a great perspective that we could all learn a little bit from and I hope you walk away feeling inspired to follow your dreams and creating a life for yourself that is multi-faceted.
