Meet Chrissy!

Chrissy is the Executive Director for Back on My Feet Indianapolis. She is an Ironman, a runner, a motivator and a source of inspiration to many.

In this episode Chrissy talks about her journey from just starting out running to completing a full ironman. (Fair warning- I can’t promise you won’t tear up when she talks about getting the finish line of that race!)

We talk about not having shame in not finishing a race, the positives and negatives of running with the back of the pack and how she’s taken the lessons she’s learned from racing and can apply them to everyday- at work and in life in general.

Chrissy’s heart for service and helping others is contagious and you’ll be wishing you had a friend just like her after you hear this episode.

It’s race week for so many people running the Chicago Marathon! We have five athletes we have coached or created training plans for who are running this weekend! Four to the Five are first time marathoners- so awesome. I was supposed to be running the marathon with my Cadet, Olivia with the Saucony 26 Strong team and am feeling a little “poor me” that I can’t. I feel bad mostly though because she agreed to the race thinking I’d run along side her the whole way! She will do great though- she’s prepared and determined.

I can’t wait to meet the rest of the 26 strong team and also meet up with other friends this weekend JENNY- I’m texting you today to make some plans!

We had a bunch of people we’ve been coaching through Chicago & Monumental over for dinner last night and it was a lot of fun to get to know some of them better and enjoy a meal. We had them over at 7:30- which is a sort of weird time for Marshall because that’s when he goes to bed. Big Lou had been down since 6:00- awesome. So we just let Marshall parade around until around 8:30 when he basically begged for bed. I made super easy, super cheesy baked ziti, a BIG SALAD (we invited Elanie, but she couldn’t come) and Glenn grilled asparagus & tomato. And thanks to Trader Joes had a cute cheese plate and pumpkin cheese cake. I thought it was pretty yummy and hey I got my lawn mowed, house cleaned and have some pretty flowers and pumpkins to enjoy now. Having guests over really does force you to get it together haha.

In other news, my friend Chris Thornberry, who runs the Video Production Company Green Sky Media has recently launched an awesome new youtube channel under Inside Endurance Sports– which is all about bringing you original video content on all things endurance. We are based in the Midwest, but they venture out to cover as much in this crazy world of sport as we can.

I’ve known Chris since my days working for Back on My Feet Indianapolis. He was a faithful volunteer and produced a good handful of videos for the non-profit,  so I’ve worked with Chris quite a bit on a few different projects.

I am going to be doing an on-going video series for him on all things running, with a focus of women’s running of course and some gear reviews.

I did my first gear review last week on some new Saucony apparel that I am loving. There will be more to come and if you have any suggestions on topics you’d like to see covered let us know! Be sure to subscribe to the Inside Endurance Sports You Tube channel to stay up to date on the latest videos. He will be doing videos with a handful of other people as well covering a wide variety of topics, all things Endurance. I didn’t realize he was going to include these bloobers, but I’m glad he did because it makes the video more REAL, which is what we’re going for!

Love that Tee- you can purchase at Saucony.com –> Runner’s High Tee
