Finding your blog has given me so much hope. I too am an avid runner and backpacker but was stopped in my tracks with a June 1 PF tear diagnosis. Their road to recovery is so much slower than you described – they have me walking only 45 min now with running predicted for 7 months out from now. I got a very expensive stem cell shot on June 2 which promises to rebuild tissue too. Then air cast and crutches for 2.5 weeks

I feel some tenderness and a bruised feeling on heel at times but I am actually suspicious that the pain is from battling my new orthotics. Much of my walk is pain free 🙂

Anyway, were you feeling tenderness at all at 8 weeks when you were cleared to run? The idea that the pain is scar tissue was new to me and made sense. I’m 7 weeks from injury diagnosis but stopped running about 4 weeks before that. So I have been biking and not running for 11 weeks.

Did you stretch? I’ve been advised to stretch and also others have advised against it as stretching an inflamed and torn ligament could make it worse.

What feet strengtheners did you do?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Our 200 mile backpacking summer has been cancelled and sitting around waiting for my foot is crazy hard.

From one running kindred spirit to another – so happy you are back on your feet and can’t wait till I am too.

http://Www.julieaoneill.wordpress.com I blog about my adventures too.

Good job with the running again – sometimes it’s easy starting slow cuz you got a built in excuse to take it easy.
+1 with the Christmas. My mom kind of told us around age 10 that Santa – as we know him – isn’t true, but we had already figured it out by then. The older I get, the more I wish we had focused more on the meaning and less on what’s under the tree. I feel bad for asking for so much.
