It was cool that you ran into so many people you knew! Loved that I saw you at the finish. As for my race … it was the most laid back I’ve ever been pre-marathon. I was still in a port-potty line after they’d called our group to go to the start line. Rather than freaking just stayed there figuring I wanted to start a few corrals back to be sure I didn’t go out too fast. Finally made my way to the start and then remembered it can be useful to jog / run a bit to warm up. So I’m coming up the hill to the corrals and they are saying “1 min to start” … “30 seconds to start” — I can’t believe how easy it is to move up and start to duck into the back of corral 3 and the guy says that I can go further so forgetting that I wanted to start around corral 4 or 5 I go up to corral 2 where I should be and arrive right in the back the moment they say go! I know you will have a hard time doing this but if you ever have the opportunity to run a marathon as a training run and do it easy at the start and then pick it up from 14-20 and then just kick it — it is a great way to run. Probably not the way that you can PR a marathon … but it was quite a good feeling. And one that I’d at least recommend experimenting with once. I know you’re gonna be back here and kick butt and take names. I kinda thought this might be my last Boston … but I’m not sure. It has a certain draw.

I can’t imagine running a 3:30marathon as an easy race…maybe one day! As you know, we were there but we didn’t stay long enough to try to find you 🙁 We had a 5 hour drive back home so wanted to leave somewhat early. But the spirit was amazing and so inspiring. It inspired my mom and I to work to qualify for Boston one day. Far off, but hopefully one day we will get there!
