He’s one of those guys who is naturally tall and lean and fast, but would rather go fishing or skateboarding. I’m thinking of proposing a “run with me and I’ll fish with you” sort of deal and see if that works.

haa- it felt much slower than 9:15, I was actually really surprised that was our slowest mile. I felt like it was 10:30 easy. Vacation/exploration carefree runs are the best. 🙂

Way to finish it out when it never felt good!!!! 9:15 is not that bad! I will say that there is NOTHING worse than thinking that you are farther than you actually are…ugh!
My husband and I both run (me, a lot more), but almost never together. We have a few times though…one of the best was when we were visiting MD before we moved and we ran around DC sight seeing but also running…it was really fun!

You have such mental (and physical) toughness. Matt has two words for me whenever I pout in my training log (or aloud) about the (slower than desired) pace for a particular workout when working with dead legs … those two words are “training effect”. It may not be the pace you want … but because you are doing all you can on those dead legs it is still having a bigger than you would think for the pace benefit.

As for what I do when my legs are toast … I fall back on those words and also kinda zone out and just tell myself to get through the next x amount … playing a game with myself thinking I’ll cut the run short but knowing I won’t unless there is pain (rather than just discomfort).

I often run at the same time as my SO(ulmate) … but typically not together for more than a warmup mile or so. We each do our own thing but often at the same place and time … so it is nice running together and seeing each other along the way… even if we aren’t running side by side.

Love the shades!

Haaa! I feel ya- it’s so frustrating when they want to speed up and you don’t. He was annoyed with me for going so slow at the end and I was annoyed with him for walking to wait for me to catch up haha. Thanks so much for the kind words!! 🙂

He’s doesn’t run as often as I do and tends to want to push the pace at the beginning and then DIE towards the end. I tend to like to build through my long runs.

You’re amazing for tackling a marathon this spring! 🙂
