I definitely understand the emotional investment in loved ones and even good friends racing/training/life events. As runners we put so much into our training that it’s hard not to let it eat away at us when its not our day (because sometimes, it really just isn’t your day). I’m glad Glenn has you (and Marshall) as support, I know that has to make a huge difference and vice versa (you have a LOT going on too!).

It’s so hard watching someone suffer through a race. You’re so right that any given race day, you just never know what will happen. The best part for me (as it looks like for him) are my kids. They kick you right in the ass with some perspective. They love you no matter what and, b/c you have a medal, they think you won!…and really, you have. Congrats!

I am emotionally invested in EVERYTHING my husband does…unfortunately what he doesn’t do is race. =) As a former professional athlete though…I constantly beg him, because I know it would fuel his inner competitor….and then I would get faster right along with him. Hahaha. But this did bring tears to my eyes, just knowing how you were already feeling his pain and disappointment, with miles left to go.
