I’ll Have Another Episode 20: Larra Overton

Larra

Larra is a good friend of mine and I had so much fun with her during this interview! I met Larra three years ago while out for a run believe it or not and we’ve been friends ever since. I showed up at Fox 59 and we sat down and had a little chat at their studio.

She ran collegiately for Indiana University, focusing on the 800 and 1500 meters. Larra has a bachelors degree in Journalism and a masters degree in sport communication. While competing for the Hoosiers, she was a four-time NCAA qualifier and two-time Academic All-American. Larra continued to be involved with Indiana University, teaching as an adjunct professor in the School of Journalism at IUPUI.

She started in television working as a studio intern at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., working on “SportsCenter,” “Baseball Tonight” and “ESPN News.” She then went on to work for the Indiana Pacers as an in-game host and reporter for Pacers.com and for Fox Sports as a sideline reporter and track & field analyst. Larra has also worked for the Big Ten Network as a sideline reporter for football and track & field. Most recently she worked as the traffic reporter for the Fox 59 morning show and is now a Sports Reporter for Fox 59.

Larra will inspire you to follow your dreams and not give up on doing what you love even if it doesn’t end up being the easiest path you are presented to take.
