Work With Me

News and Updates

4 Weeks Already

Not knowing when this sucker is going to heal might be the hardest part about not running. I can’t make a plan because I don’t know when it will be better. The Doctor says probably 6-8 weeks, but who really knows. I’ll be able to feel it when it’s ready. I know that even if they say 6-8 weeks, if it doesn’t feel right at that time, I’m still out. I honestly feel like nobody knows anything about how long it will take each individual person to heal from PF issues. It’s a stupid injury.

SAUCONY

Yesterday I tried on some new tights at Athletic Annex- came out of the dressing room barefoot and the talk was my rigid feet. My stupid high arches. And everything I need to do to make my feet better. I blame these feet on my Dad, I don’t know where he got them from but they are identical to his. Even on my left foot, I step out of bed in the morning and it’s not plantar fasciitis, but my feet just ache. I’m hobble down the stairs every morning.

I’ll be heading back to St. Vincent Sports Performance sometime in the next couple of weeks. I am going to work with Brian Schuetter for Physical Therapy and strength to get this foot healthy once it’s ready.

I’m trying to get in the pool 3 times a week and bike once or twice. In reality, I’m working out probably 4 times a week, 5 tops. My preference is 6-7 but when I’m not running, not so much. It’s fine. As much as I am still a little grumpy sometimes about the lack of endorphins, I really am still enjoying downtime. Today, I woke up at 5:30 and thought I should go swim now so I can get home before Glenn has to leave for work, but then pictured myself sitting on the couch downstairs, drinking coffee, reading a little, then watching the news and catching on up some email and a quick blog. That sounded a lot better than swimming at 5:30am. I’m taking the boys to the Y for childcare later, but to get some work done rather than a workout. If Glenn gets home from work at a decent time, I might sneak in a swim tonight, but we’ll see.

I’m trying to read more. I just finished Jen Hatmaker’s new book “For the Love”- it was cute and now I want to start my own supper club. Now I’m reading Amy Poehler’s book “Yes, Please” and Jen Hatmaker’s book “Seven”and am still in the middle of a random Diane chamberlain book, that I’m not super interested in but will eventually finish. (part of the lighthouse series… just a fun read)

I’m excited for Chicago Marathon next weekend- I’ll have a little sense of Blah since I can’t run with Olivia, my Saucony 26 strong cadet– but regardless the weekend with all of these ladies is going to be blast.

I also booked a trip to Austin for the first weekend in December with some of the Team Film ladies + Jana. I’ve never been to Austin and will be a fun get away. A little nervous that Leann won’t let me sleep, not sure I can keep up with some of this crew. I really like sleep.

Glenn says he’s banking a lot of time of “get away” time with all my trips going on, I keep telling him to make some plans! Someone go on a man trip with this guy so he doesn’t have this hanging over my head please! His only requirement is that you have to go run with him during the trip. Trails are probably a must.

In the kid department. Man, three is so hard. And kids are gross. That’s all I have the energy to say about that.

These boys. This picture pretty much sums them up.

SUPERMAN

Marshall. This is when it’s peaceful and he is the sweetest boy ever. Can someone come over and cut his hair?

UNDERWA

Then there is this. On the Regular. This was kroger on Monday- don’t get me started with the scene we caused at Good Earth.

And hey there Big Lou. Sigh. Thank you for being happy, content and keeping me sane.

Oh, also, yesterday at pre school Marshall was snoozing hard when I came to pick him up. Lights were on all the parents were picking up and my guy was just snoozing. I didn’t want to wake him, so Lou and I just waited him out. I couldn’t stop laughing about the scene, it was hilarious and precious all at the same time. Big Lou just all over the place and Marshall had in his sleep. The video is sideways, but whatever.
